001 – How is my relationship with myself?

Steph starts to share what she has been learning and practicing since 2005 when she was first introduced to the concept of creating a loving relationship with herself.  The key question explored in this Podcast is ‘How is my relationship with myself?’.  To help us answer this question we begin the practice of compassionate self observation in the three areas of our thoughts, our feelings and our actions. Towards the end of the Podcast, Steph shares a personal story of grief and love that was transformational for her and which helped her understand how disconnected she was in the relationship with herself and helped her begin her unexpected and incredible journey of self-discovery.

Steph and Deirdre Loughlin discuss the practice of living more authentically through self-awareness and the benefits of becoming familiar with our core values.  Deirdre encourages anyone with mental health concerns to create safety for themselves, through the support of others and how finding the therapist that suits you, with whom you feel safe, seen and heard without judgement can be life-changing. Emily shares her extraordinary story from growing up in inner city Dublin, painting on the walls of her mobile home in the Dublin mountains, living in abandoned buildings, to becoming a celebrated fashion designer featuring in New York fashion week, and having 10 shows in America in the last couple of years. Louise George is Steph’s guest in this podcast. Louise speaks openly and honestly of the journey that has brought her to where she is today, including some of her early experiences of anorexia and bulimia and her later experience of hyper-ventilation syndrome. Steph and Louise speak about, how from a young age, we often learn to wear masks and hide our ‘uncomfortable’ feelings and yet there is a huge need to shine a light on how we’re feeling without blaming or shaming ourselves.
